Eggless Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies

Chocolate and peanut butter have always been one of my favorite combinations when it comes to sweet treats.

Today I want to share my recipe for eggless peanut butter swirl brownies that turn out rich, fudgy, and soft every single time.

Homemade eggless peanut butter brownies

If you cannot eat eggs due to an allergy or simply avoid them in your daily cooking, finding a brownie with the right chew can be tricky.

This recipe uses sweetened condensed milk instead of eggs, which gives the brownies that dense and chewy center everyone looks for.

You get ribbons of creamy peanut butter across the top, finished with mini peanut butter cups right after baking for the ultimate treat.

Why You’ll Love It

Incredible Fudgy Texture – Sweetened condensed milk creates a rich, melt-in-your-mouth fudginess without needing any eggs at all.

Classic Flavor Match – Rich dark cocoa and creamy peanut butter create the ultimate sweet and salty treat.

Bakery Style Look – The golden peanut butter swirls make these brownies look like they came from a fancy bakery.

No Mixer Needed – You can mix the entire batter by hand using just a bowl, whisk, and spoon.

Ingredient List

For the Brownies

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips

For the Peanut Butter Swirl

  • 1/2 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 2 tbsp Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Mini Peanut Butter Cups, Halved

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides.

Step 2

Melt the butter in a large microwave-safe bowl and whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla and whisk until thick and glossy.

Step 3

Sprinkle the flour, baking powder and salt over the mixture and fold until combined, then fold in the chocolate chips. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.

Step 4

Microwave the peanut butter with the butter for 20 to 30 seconds, then stir in the powdered sugar until smooth and pourable.

Step 5

Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter mixture over the brownie batter. Drag a toothpick through it a few times to swirl, stopping before it blends in so you keep distinct ribbons.

Step 6

Bake for 26 to 30 minutes, until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs. As soon as the pan comes out, gently press the halved peanut butter cups into the warm top.

Step 7

Let cool completely in the pan, about 2 hours, then lift out and cut into 16 squares.

Tips

Whisk Cocoa Powder Into Hot Butter

I recommend whisking the unsweetened cocoa powder directly into the butter while it is still warm from the microwave. The heat helps bloom the cocoa powder and dissolves any tiny lumps before you add anything else.

This quick step brings out a much richer chocolate flavor in these eggless brownies. It also gives the batter that glossy, ultra-smooth texture right from the start.

Pick Regular Processed Peanut Butter

From my experience, a standard commercial creamy peanut butter like Jif or Skippy works best for the swirl. Natural peanut butter tends to separate and pool oil on top of your brownies while they bake.

You will get the best results if you avoid natural brands here. The regular kind melts evenly with the powdered sugar and stays nice and soft instead of drying out in the oven.

Do Not Overwork the Swirl

My favorite trick here is to only drag your toothpick through the batter four or five times. If you swirl it too much, the peanut butter simply mixes into the chocolate batter instead of sitting on top.

You want thick, distinct ribbons of peanut butter across the pan. Stopping early keeps the two flavors separate so you get both in every single bite.

Questions You Might Have

Can I use natural peanut butter for the swirl?

It is best to stick with standard commercial creamy peanut butter for this eggless recipe.

Natural peanut butter separates easily and can make the swirl turn oily or dry out while baking.
